The Queen her latest milestone and the royals pet dogs

You may or may not have heard, but on Monday the 6th of February the Queen marked an historic occasion by celebrating her Sapphire Jubilee. This means she became the first British monarch to reach 65 year on the throne, adding yet another notable milestone to the list.

Over the years of her Majesty’s reign, you’re sure to have seen her with the famous Corgis which started with the legendary Susan who was gifted by her father on her 18th birthday. Today the resident Corgis are Holly and Willow, who are descendants of Susan. As well as the Corgis the Queen also has 2 Dorgis (a Corgi-Dachshund cross) named Candy and Vulcan.

Whilst we all know about the Queen’s fondness for her dogs it seems to run in the royal family. The fondness for canines seems to extend across the royal family with various members having their own four legged friends.

So let’s take a look at some of these royal pets; who are probably living a much more luxurious life than the average household pet!

Lupo the Cocker Spaniel
Lupo is a young dog who belongs to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after being given as a gift to them after their wedding by Kate’s brother.

Ziggy the Border Collie
Ziggy is a Border Collie from Denmark and was given to Prince Frederik and Princess Mary as a gift from the Danish Kennel Club to Crown their wedding day in 2005. Now a resident of the royal castle in Fredensborg, Ziggy is now somewhat of a Danish celebrity.

Beth and Bluebell the Jack Russell Terriers
It would appear the Duchess of Cornwall has a fondness for Jack Russell Terriers and adopted Bluebell and Beth in 2012 from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and ever since they are rarely seen away from her side.
