Apply to Become a Dog Carer

Home from Home was established in 1996 and was the first home dog boarding agency in the UK. We are the largest agency in London and throughout Essex, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Clients who use Home from Home prefer not to put their dogs into traditional boarding kennels and are looking to board their dog in a safe, clean, caring family home. We pride ourselves on the service we offer and have an excellent reputation within the pet industry and veterinary surgeons.

Dogs that are placed by Home from Home are housetrained and non-aggressive. We only accept large dogs that have a calm, placid nature and are well behaved. We do not generally consider very young puppies, but you can state if you are happy to do so. You will be able to specify which breeds of dogs fit in with your lifestyle best.

We are very flexible and will be happy for you to take just an occasional dog or we can approach you with as many bookings as you wish. Carers do have regular dogs that they care for time and time again however, this is not regular work; some of our bookings are just for weekends and others can be for over a month at a time.

As a carer, you will be expected to feed, walk and care for the dogs as would their owners. The questionnaire the owner completes gives lots of information about their dog's temperament and habits. This information is passed onto you. You will get to meet the dog before the booking starts to ensure that you are happy. You have the option to reject the booking once you have met the dog if you feel uncomfortable.

We provide you with a full emergency back up service 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, so that should any problems occur you can contact us at any time.

If you think you would like to become a carer and join the Home from Home team, please complete the application form below. Once the agency has received your application, you will be contacted and interviewed at home. If successful, you will be placed on our register and we will contact you with bookings.

Testimonials

I just wanted to say that after having used Les and his wife two times now to look after our 11 year old Samoyed, Gwenny, they really are exceptional and look after her so well. It's always a bit worrying when handing over an older pet to someone else to look after, but she always comes home so well looked after and they have such nice things to say about her, I don't feel anxious at all now.

Just thought I should let you know how great they are!

Ms J, London SE15 - October 2013

Murphy was extremely well cared for when he stayed with Wendy for the weekend. Despite our conchs over some issues around his behaviour, all seemed well and we will certainly ask that she cares for him again as the need arises. Many, many thanks for sorting this all out.

Ms S, London N7 - March 2014

Thank you so much to Jamey and Angie for looking after our Puppy, Bertie, so well. We had to leave him at short notice and wanted to find somewhere that he would feel was like home. We succeeded! We had regular photos of Bertie's antics, and he was very happy and settled when we collected him today.

Mrs O, West Sussex - April 2014

I would like to thank you for finding such a lovely caring man, James, to look after my dog Moe. Moe looked so well and happy when I went to collect him. I know he had a good time and was well looked after. Thank you so much.
